MANILA, Philippines — Guild Solutions, Inc. (GSI) suspended regular onsite work from 10 to 14 August as heavy rains and flooding threats continue to affect Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Ray-an Cabe, Head of People Services & Community Partnerships, shared the announcement internally on behalf of GSI leadership after weather conditions across Luzon deteriorated over the weekend.
GSI took the precautionary step as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast continued monsoon rains across Metro Manila and much of Luzon throughout the week. PAGASA expects the southwest monsoon, or Habagat, to bring widespread rainfall, thunderstorms and possible flooding to several regions, including the National Capital Region.
In a statement, GSI Chief Executive Officer Gel Nolasco said employee safety drove the company’s decision.
“The safety and wellbeing of our people remain our highest priority. Please take all necessary precautions and prioritise your safety at all times.”
While GSI has suspended regular onsite operations, the company will keep its Manila offices open for employees who choose to work onsite or need a safe place to stay during the severe weather. GSI will also stock office facilities with food and other essential supplies to support employees who may require assistance.
The decision reflects GSI’s people-first culture by giving employees the flexibility to work safely while ensuring access to office resources, connectivity and shelter when needed.
PAGASA continues to warn of significant rainfall across parts of Luzon. Forecasters expect the Habagat to bring periods of moderate to intense rain over Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas and neighbouring provinces, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
Weather experts have also warned that days of persistent rain have already saturated the ground in many communities, raising the likelihood of flooding and slope failures.
Recent reports from INQUIRER.net show that authorities have maintained heavy rainfall warnings across several areas in Luzon, while flooding and transport disruptions have affected parts of the country as the enhanced southwest monsoon continues to influence local weather patterns.
PAGASA’s weekly outlook indicates that the southwest monsoon will remain the country’s dominant weather system through 14 August, bringing recurring rain and thunderstorms to Metro Manila and western sections of Luzon.
GSI encourages employees to monitor official weather advisories, avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain, and contact their leaders directly if they need assistance.
The People Services Group, led by Cabe, will continue to provide employee updates throughout the week, while the Channel and Business Group will manage communications with clients and partners.
As severe weather conditions persist, GSI remains focused on protecting its people while maintaining support for employees and clients alike.
